Due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus and the current situation in schools, the assessment scheme will be rescheduled; please stay tuned for further notice.
The assessment schemes aims to evaluate and compare the ability level of Secondary 3 students in general Mathematics and English proficiency, and provides the participating schools with an overview of the curriculum level and students’ competence in the two subjects among Asia Pacific schools.
We followed four principles in the design of the Assessment Scheme:
- The assessment is generally related to the Secondary 3 curriculum in Hong Kong. However, as an assessment for the region, the differences in the curricula in different countries/areas are considered.
- The assessment aims to gauge the abilities of students for the development of senior secondary education.
- The assessment will also seek to diagnose the weak areas of the students and help teachers to develop tailored teaching-learning strategies for individual students.
- The assessment is designed to adapt a standard-referenced approach for the grading of results.
The scheme targets to have secondary schools from around 10 countries or regions to join and assess over 500 students in the first batch in 2020.
